Since becoming an attorney in 1982, Scott W. Schiff has been a champion of the underdogs in our society. A graduate of Ohio State University (1979), and Capital University Law School (1982), Scott began the law firm of Schiff & Associates Co. LPA., in 1985, specializing in civil litigation with an emphasis on catastrophic injury and wrongful death.

Keith J. Shepardson, Esq.
Keith J. Shepardson has been with Schiff & Associates for more than 15 years after graduating from the University of Akron School of Law, where he received his JD (1995), and the University of Maryland, College Park, BA (1991).

Craig T. Smith, Esq.
Craig T. Smith brings to Schiff & Associates a solid legal background paired with a commitment to helping people who find themselves in difficult circumstances. A graduate of The Ohio State University, BA, and Capital University Law School, JD, Craig T. Smith began with Schiff & Associates in 2001. He focuses on obtaining settlements, particularly in wrongful death and serious injury cases.

Terry V. Hummel, Esq.
As a trial attorney at Schiff & Associates, Terry Hummel, Esq., handles a wide variety of litigation of personal injury claims. With more than 30 years of preparing lawsuits and successfully trying them to juries throughout the State of Ohio, Terry brings to his clients an ethic of work and service backed by substantial experience.

Philip A. Ziegler, Esq.
Philip A. Ziegler took his BA at The Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio. He began working for Schiff & Associates in 2002 as an undergraduate. This prompted Philip to go on to law school at Capital University, where he obtained his JD, and was admitted to the bar in 2010.
Philip works in the field of Personal Injury (Plaintiff). “We help all kinds of people, which I very much enjoy,” said Philip. “Seeing our clients satisfied and receiving the compensation they need gives me a sense of fulfillment.”
Phillip Corey Lauer, Esq.
Phillip Corey Lauer began with Schiff & Associates as a Case Manager in 2005. After graduating from Bowling Green State University with a BA in 2004, his ambitions to become an attorney led him to take the Capital University Law School night program. Phillip obtained his JD in 2010, and was admitted to the Ohio Bar.

Megan R. Hayden, Esq.
Megan R. Hayden graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a double major in History and Political Science. She then attended Capital University Law School, where she worked as an intern for the Honorable James O’Grady at the Franklin County Municipal Court. She later worked as a law clerk at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. She was a member of The Capital University Law Review, where she participated as a Staff Member for the Volume 42 edition. She was later selected to be an Associate Content Editor for the Volume 43 edition. Throughout her time in law school, Megan received two CALI Awards (given to the student scoring the highest grade in a course) in Secured Transactions and Professional Responsibility.
Zachary L. Schiff, Esq.
Zachary L. Schiff graduated with the honor of Cum Laude from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio with a major in Strategic Communications. While at The Ohio State University, Zach worked for the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office and volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Friendship Circle, and Autism Speaks. Zach then attended Capital University Law School. Throughout his time in law school, Zach worked for Schiff & Associates as a legal assistant and continued to volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Friendship Circle, and Autism Speaks. Zach received the CALI Award, which is given to the student scoring the highest grade in a course, in Constitutional Law.
Todd Fitz, Esq.
Todd Fitz graduated from The University of Mt. Union in Alliance, Ohio in 1984 with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Psychology. While there, he played football and was president of the ATO Fraternity. Upon graduation he worked for Columbia Gas of Ohio as a Marketing representative and attended Capital University Law School’s evening program where he graduated in the top 23% of his class, was named to the Order of the Curia National Legal Fraternity and received the American Jurisprudence for his outstanding study in Contracts II. Todd also finished in the top 8% on the Ohio Bar examination. Todd soon became a partner in the law firm of Magaziner, McGlade and Fitz, LLC where he handled wrongful death, personal injury, and criminal matters.
Ryan Lauer, Esq.
Ryan Lauer worked for Schiff & Associates while an undergraduate at The Ohio State University. He went on to attend Capital University Law School at night while continuing to work full time for the firm. Ryan became a lawyer in 2008. He was admitted to the Northern District of Ohio in 2013. In 2014 Ryan left the firm to work in insurance defense litigation for two years. Ryan has tried and won cases for both Plaintiffs and Defendants in many different counties throughout Ohio.
Ryan believes litigation is an important tool to get the facts and resolve disputes. His firsthand knowledge of the litigation process and trial allows him to evaluate and prosecute injury cases in order to get his client’s fair results in the least amount of time possible.
