Since becoming an attorney in 1982, Scott W. Schiff has been a champion of the underdogs in our society. A graduate of Ohio State University (1979), and Capital University Law School (1982), Scott began the law firm of Schiff & Associates Co. LPA., in 1985, specializing in civil litigation with an emphasis on catastrophic injury and wrongful death.

Appointed Special Council to the Ohio Attorney General, American Bar Association Member, Columbus Bar Association (Appointed Ethics Committee) Sustaining Member, American Trial Lawyers Association Member, Franklin County Trial Lawyers Association Member, Who’s Who of Attorneys in America Member.

Scott’s history of charitable giving, both in time and money, reflects the values and beliefs instilled in him as a child. He credits his parents with teaching him the importance of hard work, human equality and charitable giving, and has donated extensively to charities, individuals, and ideals, impacting people all over the world.

“It is paramount to the continuation of my synagogue, and to religious freedoms everywhere, that all Americans support the fundamental rights to associate and worship freely whatever God (or not) we choose,” Scott said. “First Amendment freedoms are what set Americans apart from the rest of the world.”

Scott has served on many non-profit charitable boards and organizations, both in the field of law, and in the larger community. Legal organizations include: Board of Counselors at Capital University Law School, the Columbus Bar Association Ethics Committee, and The Ohio State University.

In the wider community, Scott has served as a board member or generally supported the following: Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Flying Horse Farms summer camp for terminally ill children, Columbus Area Performing ArtsThe First Tee of ColumbusMarch of DimesNisonger Center for Autistic ChildrenWexner Center for the ArtsColumbus JCSS and CJF, funding scholarships for students atThe United Negro College Fund, and Endowments at Capital University for underprileaged kids.

In 2010, Scott’s synagogue honored him as a Man of the Year, in a presentation attended by 300 community leaders.

“From a charitable perspective, I tend to focus on helping those who work hard but can’t seem to get ahead because of disabilities or lack of opportunities,” said Scott.

“Each and every case is extremely important to me,” said Scott. “No single case is going to change my life financially, but each and every individual case will change the life of my client, and that keeps me motivated.
